We stayed in a green hotel which had a lovely internal courtyard that the boys could play in. The family room was big and the boys had a separate room, so that we could all get a good night's sleep. During the week we did an activity a day - we went to Zoom, a fantastic children's museum in the Museumsquartier , where the boys investigate the "ocean" and also the "Haus des Meers" aquarium. Small Boys can watch fish for hours!
We also went to the Prater Park to go on the miniature train and the big wheel. Through the week we had no trouble finding playgrounds and child friendly cafes. Did the touristy thing and rode in a horse carriage. We even found a babysitter and we had a fantastic japanese meal out. I had an afternoon to myself and went to the Leopold Museum to see an exhibition about the art in Vienna in 1900 (Schiele, Klimt etc) and even had time for a little glass of prosecco and slice of strudel in their roof cafe! My thoughts on the exhibition here.
For the boys the highlight was probably sleeping on the overnight train to Vienna and then spending 8.5 hours on the way home pointing at trains out of the window - easily pleased! I really noticed that we all benefited from quality time together. Roll on the next holiday!
And to mark the occasion, a new (cheesy) userpic of the four of us! See All my userpics here
