Reality strikes!

Cometh the cold weather, cometh the colds...

Last count:
Alan: One cold, been and gone
Markus: Currently suffering his first cold and very grouchy
Helen: Brewing a cold, plus suffering breast infection

But on the plus side, we have a great Chemist, who never fail to give me excellent advice :-)

So, we are doing okay, but I would rather that we were all fighting fit.

In other news, I am convinced that my cognitive processing centres has shifted half a metre south - to my boobs! They seem to control all my thinking and decision making at the moment! Do i have milk? do I need to pump? Are they happy and healthy? Do I need to feed? Who knew breastfeeding was this all encompassing :-) it is amazing to think that all his weight gain and growth is due to me - I am breastfeeding woman, hear me roar!

The most awe inspiring part of pregnancy, birth & feeding your baby, is that it all just happens without any mental input from yourself. It made me really love being female.

If you have sore bosoms, stick a cabbage leaf in your bra. I don't know how I know this, but I know it works (from friends)

Argh, the breast infections SUCK! So freaking painful!! Plus, you mgiht find that the 'brewing cold' symptoms are due to the infection, you get a flu like feeling. Are you on some antibiotics? I think I have had 4 lots of mastitis all in all.

But, I have just started the final stages of weaning Lilly - she is now down to just one night time feed. It's peculiarly melancholy - especially since I spent months and months wishing sometimes I would have my boobs back - but now I find I don't want to let go of this special connection with my little girl. It's been so *good* for her, like magic potion, that I almost a little scared to finally stop it. But all the stages are great, and as they depart, are replaced by more wonders, so I am sure it will be fine. :)

Oh, I hope you feel better soon! I seem to have managed - by dint of working from home - to have avoided the bugs going around my colleagues, but I'm sure my time will come, we've had a very mild autumn so far, I'm sure the germs are loving it!
