What did I do at work today ?

As regular readers have realised, real life and work have taken over my virtual blog life! Life is busy but good.... but wish I had a bit more time to journal. At the weekend I'll try and catch up with the last couple of weeks.....

Anyway, I had a really interesting conversation with a new friend yesterday... all about work and more specifically about what I did all day. I waffled about designing training and development, but today I actually recorded each half hour what I had actually did. The results are a bit shocking :-/

08.00-08.30 should have been in, but wasn't :-/
08.30-09.00 Logged in, got coffee, read new emails, answered most urgent ones
09.00-09.30 Went to Migros with colleagues to buy wine and stuff for "Impuls Apero" event this afternoon (speech and apero for our internal speakers and trainers from the business)
09.30-10.00 Planned meeting for Thursday when colleague arrives from USA - phone calls, emails and booking meeting room
10.00-10.30 Created Attendee list for this afternoon, general Admin
10.30-11.00 Edited photos from welcome day event yesterday and sent to project leader
11.00-11.30 3 phone calls to and from project leader about the feedback process for yesterday's training event, meeting admin
11.30-12.00 Lunch with colleague from the business
12.30-13.00 ditto
13.00-13.30 checked emails
13.30-14.00 Went to Migros again to collect food for Apero
14.00-14.30 Wrote introduction speech for Apero
14.30-15.00 Set up conference room for presentation and set up training room for Apero (lots of chair and table moving)
15.00-15.30 Greeted attendees for event and looked after speaker
15.30-16.00 Gave introduction for event then listened to "Work Life Balance" Lecture
16.00-16.30 ditto
16.30-17.00 Poured drinks, served food and networked at Apero
17.00-17.30 Poured drinks, served food and networked at Apero
17.00-18.00 Cleared training room, packed away food
18.00-18.30 ditto
18.30-19.00 Cleared inbox, filed emails, wrote email to colleague re directions from airport
19.00-19.30 made list of tasks, for tomorrow, cleared desk re official work policy and went home...

So there you have it, basically phone calls, emails and people handling!

What I wanted to get done but didn't
- Complete E-test for "Testing for High Impact" course I attended last month
- Write learning objectives and course outlines for Microsoft courses
- Write news item for company intranet re Microsoft courses

What's urgent tomorrow
- Meeting with boss at 9am
- before then, give feedback on change management course for employees
- finish admin for today's event
- Finish creating resources for management development event next Monday
- Create post course resources for Change Management Training which took place last week
