'Twas the makeover project before Christmas .....

There must be some primeval nesting clearing and building instinct that kicks in just before Christmas, because this is the third year in a row, that i've had handymen in to fix stuff!

2018 Pre Christmas Clear out and build
2017 Boys room rebuild

This year we fixed LED lighting (with disco effects optional) underneath the boys bed, plus built desks, and under desk storage and moved stuff around and also did a massive clear out of books in the cellar, and also a big give away of the boys toys! Evidence below...

The 12 Treats of Christmas....

1. A pile of new books to read
2. Buying myself some kindle bargains
3. Ember Tea Mug from Alan
4. A new board game to play
5. Cold Chicken Drumsticks
6. A Terry's Chocolate Orange send by Sal
7. Kerry gifting me homemade orange chocolate Shortbread on Christmas Eve
8. Watching "The Tiger who came to Tea" with my boys
9. Reading "Percy Jackson & the LIghtning Thief" with M
10. Painting my nails
11. A nap in the afternoon
12.  Watching Christmas films with the boys

It's been a lovely Christmas, very low key. Lots of days spent in our jimjams, doing nothing much.
I had a horrible cold from the 24th to the 28th, so I only cooked Christmas Dinner on the 27th! A tooked over some meals and has taken the boys out twice, meaning i've had a few hours to myself in the flat - best christmas present ever!

Livejournal Review of 2019

It's quite simple: the first sentence of the first entry for each month in 2019. Here's what my livejournal world looked like in 2019.
There are lots of posts which I wanted to write, but which I never did.
Some might belatedly appear!

Jan:
76 books read - yay, two up on last year, but not quite the 100 I was aiming for :-)
Feb: -.
Mar: -
Apr: -.
May: I think I might have managed the perfect balance today! I took a rare day off and did the following:
June: -
July:

Aug:
Sep: on saying goodbye when walking to school: "See you later alligtor, in a while, crocodile"
Oct:
Nov: My fifth time attending TEDxZurich and delighted to be at their 10th Anniversary!
Dec: It's hard to believe it's December already, the year has flown by.

Review of Books Read 2019

100 books read - Yay, finally got my goal! Again, I read 2 novels in German (Mein Name ist Eugen: Klaus Schädelin & Wolkenbruchs wunderliche Reise in die Arme einer Schickse: Thomas Meyer)

Again, a tough year professionally and personally and again I did a lot of comfort reading and re-reading of old favourites, particularly Maeve Binchy (5 books) and Marian Keyes (7 books)

It was a difficult year for me personally and professionally and I did a lot of comfort reading / re-reading of old favourites, but also a lot of non-fiction reading about how to survive / thrive / be healthier. A good reading year!

Best Book (Fiction): When All is Said: Anne Griffin</font>

Best Book (Non-Fiction): When Nieztsche Wept: Irvin D. Yalom & How People Learn: Nick Shackleton-Jones</font>

Best Chicklit: The Memory Book: Rowan Coleman

Book which made me change/gave me most food for thought: How to Own the Room: Viv Groskop & Quiet: Susan Cain</font>

Best Old Favourite: Good Omens: Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett & Rachel's Holiday: Marian Keyes

Author Discovery: How to make a girl: Caitlin Moran</font>

Worst Read:  Didn't have one, they were all 3 stars or up!

2019 in Snapshots

Life is good, enjoy the little things. Someday you will look back and realize they were the big things.

I try very hard to be mindful, to appreciate my life and the blessings I have. This is not always easier in my self induced panic and rush and stress. But when I look back at my daily snapshots, I appreciate the little things :-) And I remember how much love, beauty and fun surrounds me each day!
