Family photoshoot in the park

family Oct 2012

Our family photos from October are finally here. Thank you Clever Photographer Claire :-)

I love these, lots of leaves and park and bikes and fun. Both boys were in good form and we got some lovely shots of the two of them "playing" together after a fashion :-) The difference in Patrick is very obvious. In May he really was still a baby, and now he is a toddler with attitude, character and smiles.

I am grateful that Claire also captures me so well. I am not normally good in photos, plus I am almost always behind the camera. I like all the photos here of me, I look like a relaxed Mummy, who scrubs up well! Getting these photos done is for me a hard-earned luxury.

On photos, memories and family

Photos have always been important to me. I really value the photos I took and stored as a child, teenager, student. As a kid, I loved looking through our family albums, remembering the memories, re-telling the stories. Now I spend time in organising my digital photos, uploading to flickr, blogging about photos. Since we live apart from our families, photos and stories become even more important.

I think the email conversation below - to my Mum - sums it all up.

Markus and I were looking at photos of everyone today on my mobile phone. I have my favourites there, lots of friends and family and we quite often talk about them. He amost always recognizes "Aunty Cake" (ie my sister Kate), but no one else reliably.

Today out of the blue, he points to Dad and says Grandpa: then I find a picture of you and he says "Granny"

My Mum
Wow!! Thanks, that's wonderful........... it's so difficult to retain any sort of connection with the boys, so many thanks for your continual repetition with photos and general occasional chat!
