Blogs and books

Another Guardian article, this time about books that have come from blogs!

The article reports on the "Blooker" prize, which awards online writers who become mainstream successes. The winner, Julie Powell, had this to say about blogging....

"Powell credits blogging with kick-starting her writing career. "I had no idea what a blog was a week before I began," she told the Guardian. "The medium really liberated me and motivated me to do the work and not obsess over the details. The community aspect of blogging and the interaction with others kept me honest, kept me writing and kept me from sinking into my habitual self-loathing."

It's the final countdown... (23917 words)

Sorry for planting Europe's annoying soft rock ballad in your head!

But, I've just edited and merged the discussion and conclusion chapters and my total word count is currently (drum roll....)

23917 words

which means I only have another 4000 to lose (or 2000, since I have a 10% margin of error!). Can I do that in a day? I've made a list, but have to get some fresh air now and some food for supper, so will come back to this later! My brain is scrambled....

My next European city to live in?

Seen on thepolliwog's journal! This is a very accurate choice, since mr ncot comes from Dublin and I love the city and would certainly like to live there at some point :-)

You Belong in Dublin

Friendly and down to earth, you want to enjoy Europe without snobbery or pretensions.

You're the perfect person to go wild on a pub crawl... or enjoy a quiet bike ride through the old part of town.
